DAYBREAK – INSPIRED START TO FINISH!
Introducing “Daybreak” (72×48), a painting that has been inspired from start to finish! The original inspiration for doing a painting this large was to attempt to capture a vision I had during a particularly profound ‘life coaching’ session (shout out to my amazing coach, Liz Wiltzen http://liveattuned.com/). Liz is also an incredibly talented artist.
Further inspiration for this painting came from an unusual source….the passing of a beautiful soul, the mother of a dear friend of mine, Margaret Norton, on January 16th. Margaret lived a full and inspiring life, touching the hearts of many, and it was truly a heart-warming celebration of her life as family & friends gathered to honor her.
While creating the final touches on this painting, I reflected on Mararet, her family, and Anvil Island……where the Norton family has a cabin. It is also where I went to summer camp as a child – “Daybreak Point Bible Camp”.
So much of who I am is connected to many of the people that loved this amazing woman – and at her memorial service I was surprised to find more connections than I had previously realized.
I decided to name this painting “Daybreak” because it seems to touch on all the inspirations that flowed through me while I painted it. Daybreak represents hope for a new day (which every day is!), a bright future (whether in heaven or on earth), reaching for your potential rather than regretting the past, being grateful for everything you have & everything you are. It is a fresh start, full of new possibilities and adventures, peaks & valleys, sunshine & clouds, bright horizons and lush meadows. It is vibrant yet mysteriously subtle, peaceful & meditative, strong yet ever so gentle – taking you to a place of peace and stillness that can be so hard to find in this life.
Even though I painted it, I am entirely in awe of this piece. To see it in person may bring chills or goosebumps (at least it frequently does to me). I’m not sure yet if I will ever part with it, or keep it as part of my private collection…..that segment of the journey remains to be revealed. It has been a life-changing painting for me to create, and I am truly humbled by it’s Majesty.
Thank you for sharing in this experience with me…..I hope it touches & inspires you as well!
