CREATIVITY COACHING – SESSION 4: CHANGING DIRECTION
pushed myself WAY beyond my comfort zone on this painting. And it paid off. It doesn’t always work out, but I’ve been relentlessly committed to following my gut lately, and it often results in a new series or direction.
Here’s what happened, from start to finish…
Before – Landscape I started before the Christmas holidays.
I’m going to show you the end result, because the ‘during’ is a bit scary! I don’t want you don’t freak out (like I did when I was in the ‘during’)
Here are the steps this piece went through as I decided to trust my intuition and let go of the outcome.
During – I am working with Transparent colours which will add depth & interest
During step 2 – I started ‘whiting-out’ the sky of the landscape because I wanted to create an abstract (I don’t want clouds in my abstract).
Step 3 – I rotated the painting and started making the parts I liked a bit bolder (note – the red Center of Interest)
Here I’m just continuing to work with translucent colours that don’t completely hide the details below. This adds depth and interest!
I rotated the painting again, and continued enhancing the parts I liked, and whiting out (or gray’ing out) the parts I didn’t like.
After – Borderlines 24×18 on canvas.
