The Groove - How to Get it (Or Stay In It!)
How wonderful it is when you are in The Groove, and how to get in it when you’re not. Is it even possible to stay in it?
You know what I mean … that elusive place where you feel so inspired and every painting you work on turns out. Gratitude and joy flow freely & even your signature on a painting seems somehow special (more mature – more Artist’y).
I experienced it today, and that just seemed wrong. Why should I feel so inspired and have such a great painting session when I haven’t been consistently grinding it out in the studio? I’ve hardly even been in my studio since my Dad’s stroke on Dec. 23rd.
Isn’t that where the good stuff is supposed to happen? When you do it every day, no matter what…
My friends, I am more convinced than ever that we are not in control of our gifts (or talents). We are just a vessel through which God can create beauty, share inspiration, bless others and walk ever so humbly one step at a time. On a good day, the steps lead us in a forward direction
I’m not suggesting we don’t work hard – practice, practice, practice, etc. Discipline & grit are necessary to help us build muscle & improve our skills.
To summarize my thoughts this particular day, I don’t have the answers, but I hope you will feel encouraged to love yourself whether you’re in The Groove, or not.
Also, remember the crappy days & ugly paintings are all part of the process of becoming the Artist you are meant to be.
Until next time I feel I have something that might be interesting or helpful to share,
Much love, Jenn xo
