IF I FAIL … I FAIL.

Being an artist has made me embrace failure in ways I had never imagined possible.  I don’t like it, but I have learned to appreciate the value that comes from experiencing failure.

My best paintings have all been created on the heels of failed paintings.  The freedom that comes from an “it couldn’t possibly be worse than the last one” approach is powerful and liberating.

This is a painting I did at a demo a few weeks ago.  As I was in the midst of creating it, I thought it was a going to be a complete disaster.

It never would have happened had I not been willing to let go, surrender to the process and risk failing.

I ended up loving it so much that I tried to do it again … hence, Surrender II happened.
I want to show up in my studio every day with a surrendered heart and enough courage to fail. I hope this will inspire you to be brave & follow your heart! xo
